The Old Mill House

The Brief

To create a unique kitchen to sit within the walls of this historic Mill House with stunning views across the beautiful landscaped gardens to the South Downs and its very own working windmill.

Elements

The island is the central focal piece of this breathtaking space. At over 3m long and with the 50mm bullnosed Bianco Eclipse counter top the island provides acres of space to create nourishing meals in this busy family home. Housing the generous sink with hot tap, the island has all of the practical aspects covered. The pair of dishwashers are an essential for times when the home is busy with family and friends. The discretely integrated pair of bins are easily to hand for clearing whilst preparing With drawers and cupboard storage to the front within easy reach of the dining area to set the table for family feasts. The stool pocket give the end of the island a soft table leg detail, continuing with the furniture based approach.

The Aga elevation is every cook’s dream; with the cooker centred between the glazed counter mounted cabinets. The companion drawers and cabinets house all of chef’s equipment, and the glazed cabinet bring some detail to the space giving a lighter, more furniture based aesthetic. The bullnosed stone shelf is a feat of engineering and appears to float. With gorgeous brass rails the eclectic and heritage details bring an authenticity to this modern space with this historic home.

The tall elevation houses a pair of generous fridge freezers on the left and the right. Cleverly integrated these provide a huge amount of storage within a few steps of the island. The central larder armoire houses all of the dry store and essential provisions with solid Oak spice racks and stone counter details inside.
