The Old Priory, Lindfield

The Brief

To create a standout kitchen, pantry, bootroom and laundry room in this historic home occupying an enviable position in a beautiful Sussex village. Working with the architects Gould Baxter and interior designer Abigail Reay Design we were entrusted to create the cabinetry in sympathetic restoration of this beautiful home, with the intention that all that we did would feel original.

Elements

Occupying the heart of this historic home the kitchen, with its views across the formal gardens is a space to nurture the family. With the sociable island with hob incorporated it’s the perfect place to cook whilst engaging with family and guests seated at the island. With ample drawer storage for all of the chefs equipment, and within easy reach of the ovens, sink and hob it’s a joy to rustle up delicious suppers.

The oven elevations cleverly house a larder armoire for a dry stores and essentials. With the eye level ovens bringing a modern touch to the space and all of the functionality required to create special meals. The American fridge freezer is clearly integrated to the right of the ovens, achieving symmetry and balance with the pantry cupboard, and allowing everything to be at the cook’s fingertips.

The sink elevation is a place of beauty with the stunning marble shelves, and counter mounted glazed Oak cabinet which gives a glimpse of the beautiful oak interiors to all of the cabinets . With integrated waste and recycling bins alongside the dishwasher, all of the practicalities are covered. The beautiful Oak trays give detail and are perfect for presenting party snacks and nibbles.

The Oak sideboard was created to support the dining area and provide a beautiful home for the family’s silver, formal crockery and serving dishes. It is carefully crafted in Oak to bring a softer, furniture based element to the space.

The pantry area is the perfect spot just off the kitchen for food and drinks storage to support the house during busy periods. With the pair of undercounter wine fridges and marble countertop everything is easily at hand. The open oak shelving with beautiful discreet lighting provides essential storage and sense of luxury to the space.

Bootroom & Laundry; with dogs and muddy walks the hardest working spaces of this home are key to support the running of this busy house. The beautiful boot room cabinetry has a home for wellies, coats, hats and gloves with the beautiful upholstered bench to rest on. Leading through to the laundry the gentle marble counter tops and high specification appliances compliment the rest of the home’s cabinetry.
