The Village Period Home, Rudgewick

The Brief

To create a family kitchen and utility room in this beautiful period home nestled within its own stunning grounds in a quiet village location. Home to a keen cook, the kitchen needed to function practically as well as sitting comfortably within the space.

Elements

The centrepiece Aga is the focal point of the space and grounds the cabinetry. With the companion cupboards and utensil drawers, with soft breakfront, the Aga elevation is perfectly framed by the mantle. Positioned around the windows the generous countertops give plenty of space to prep and plate for the family. The cabinetry softly leads around to the sink cabinet centered on the window with views across the beautiful gardens. The cabinetry is all at the lower level to compliment the windows and existing layout of the space.

The glazed Oak counter mounted cupboard and delicate Oak shelving add another layer to the cabinetry without any visual heaviness. The pair of larder armoires house the families crockery and food storage with easy reach of the kitchen and dining space.

Leading from the kitchen is the utility room housing the families generous American fridge freezer out of sight but easily accessible. With laundry and utility cupboards there is a home for everything and a second sink to support the main kitchen. The Oak shelving gives a nod to the main kitchen and provides further practical storage in this stunning working space.
