The Grain Store
The Brief
To create a clean, contemporary kitchen suitable for a young family. Handcrafted, parred–back cabinetry was a must with a combination of natural materials to suit the rural barn conversion. Dining space within the kitchen was also key to suit the sociable family who like to cook and eat together.
Elements
This Modern Middleton kitchen is an expression of British craftsmanship and design. The cabinetry has a utilitarian beauty with clean lines, pure shaker doors and simple open legs.
Bookending the Aga arrangement is the crockery Armoire on the left and the Pantry Armoire on the right. This allows the chef to collect provisions from the pantry then work at the Aga and along this elevation with everything to hand within the pan drawers. All crockery and glasses can be easily accessed to plate up at the island.
The island within the Grains Store kitchen has many functions. It houses the sink, hot water tap and also flexible dishwashing with the Fisher and Paykel Built in DishDrawer cleverly concealed. The book matched Oak top is a tactile, warm space to dine and seats four comfortably around the open legged table end to the island. The resulting space flows beautifully for the cook and family alike
