The Brief

This barn conversion in a Sussex village was home to a chef and his wife. The kitchen was housed within a very compact space but needed to perform for the couple’s jam and chutney making business.

Elements

Clever use of space integrating a dishdrawer over a household drawer. Generous butler sink. Plate rack pantry cupboard with clever hinging drawers to optimise access. The island is multifunctional and houses crockery, cutlery, knives and utensils and open storage for bowls and larger items. The hardwearing top is a perfect place for prepping and resting hot pans form the cooker.

The plate racks is a traditional feature and stores crockery in an attractive manner Across the room is a large double doored pantry and boiler cupboard attractively house. The use of bespoke design has unified this small and difficult space into a highly functional and beautiful kitchen.
